I am seriouly disapointed in the Watchtower society

i can scarcley believe my eyes.

i read in another thread about c. t. russells attitude that his 'studies in the scriptures' is better than the bible and come to the conclusion they are not god abandoned today, god was never there.. fast forward to modern times and they are still at it, likening their body of teachings as being part of the bible.. most of you already know the pasages in their own lit that i refer to, i'm just stating my feelings as i dismantle a 38 year old belief system.. it seems to me, that all along, the belief of the watchtower society is this: our writings are true, they are backed up by the bible.

rather than, the bible is true, backed up by our writings.. disapointed.

Nasty is an understatement! I just never ever ever thought she could turn into the unspeakable monster she had become. I mean, she is really deluded by her own self righteousness. And i find that dangerous as all hell because people like that cannot be reasoned with. My only option is to play hard and that's not the type of person i am.

It really saddens me to realize that she can have a whole organization that is deluded as her for support. I once thought staying away from the JW because of her was me being stumbled somehow. Now i see clearly, she is a reflection of the religions ideals and has fully absorbed their attitudes and methods.

so, reluctantly, It's GAME ON BITCH!

Why? lets see, ontop of all the stuff on here, there is the personal stuff.

like today when i have had to take legal action against my ex. Like today her with-holding the children from seeing me. Like all the untruths, deceptions and changing standards.

i was going to accuse her of being a discrace to her religion BUT I HAVE DECIDED SHE IS A CREDIT TO THEM. THEY ARE A MALICIOUS ORGANIZATION FROM THE TOP DOWN. THEY HAVE TRAINED HER WELL. EVIL IS AS EVIL DOES.

Was Lot a Total Ignoramus?

if this town of sodom was *supposedly* all homosexuals..... why would lot throw his virgin daughters out to them when the crowd came to his house?.

were these girls ugly and needed help with make-up or finding their colors?.

why would lot think that homosexuals would be happy having the company of his virgin daughters?.

funny, i was only thinkung about Lot and his wife the other day... after hearing the district conv talk about not looking back etc.

Lots wife was used as an example of one who longed for the good things in town, the comforts, the material things, you know the usual yadda yadda, anyway i went back to the book of Lot, (haven't opened my NWT for 10 years) and read it. interesting how you veiw things after the blinkers are taken off.

It says no reason why she looked behind. she may just as easily been a pyromaniac! couldn't resist a peek at the FIRE! Maybe just morbidly curious.

And as for Lot that we are told was soooooo good, what the hell is doing living there in the first place? Sacrifice your virgin daughters instead of strangers and then DID NOT want to leave, then bartered a different safe place!

What i a JW lived above a brothel or a strip club? Righteous lot set the example. A JW can send their daughters out to the mob instead of a G/B member. Righteous Lot did. JW should be allowed to delay the leaving this sinful world. Righteous Lot did. Can they barter for salvation? Lot did that too.

Gee with shining examples of faith like that, it's no wonder the Watchtower society are so [ insert colorful metaphor here] !

What has happened in the last 10 years since i left? Scandals? Doctrine changes?

i have been out since 1998 and have rarely seen another jw since.

i didn't leave because i found anything wrong, i just didn't want to live the life anymore.

i still defended the witnesses at times.

Thanks Chris, good advice. I am on a mission to sort fact from fiction first, workout the stuff that may help, and then work out what if anything to do.

the second purpose of my research is to understand the religion that took 28 years of my life. Add to that another 10 still thinking its the true one, and that's 38 years i want to understand.

In your experience how many DFd return to the WTS?

from the 11/15/09 wt study article: "it is heartwarming to know that a large number of such ones [disfellowshipped ones] later return to jehovah and his congregation...".

this is a typical cult phrase, where they use a generic unverifiable statement to prove a point.

so, since we're not likely to get an official answer from the wt, how many of the dfd ones in your vicinity has actually been reinstated?.

A little off topic, i have only known of a few to return. I had a witness friend not talk to me after my D/F until some time later when she was herself. She did say she wanted back in, as she still wanted to worship Jehovah, despite some really awful treatment from the JW.

As for myself, i pretty much new from day 1 that i would never return. For two years i had no social life. no life other than work and waiting for my kids visits. Even with extreme loneliness in that time i never considered going back. When i had healed, i started taking dance lessons, and built a whole new life from scratch.

No, i dont think they need to. They are pretty darn good at it themselves. some are masters of the lie, slight untruth, mislead, avoid the truth, lawyer talk. Actually, they would make good politicians!

on the wording and even tone of voice used to 'apologize' for these years mis-predictions?.

stuff like this will be invaluable in helping young witnesses realize that they need to look back to last century.

Why does the media leave JW alone?

largly, i found over the years, the media seldom runs stories on jws.

sure there is the odd sensation in a paper about a child not having blood or something or some brief mention.. why has the media not got hold of the child abuse situation?

with the mainstream church's in australia and globally, they had a field day.

yeah, the posts make sense. it also means they are not as widespread as they lead people (or themselves) to believe either.

the wife reckons its because they are a bunch of crazies. crazies never get taken seriously by the media.

and as for us, if we say anything public its' the crazies are calling crazies crazy i guess!'

Has the Watchtower ever admitted making a mistake?

with all their flip flops, errors and changes, do you know of any printed admission of mistakes made ?.

have they ever apologized for wrong doctrine?.

i think it's because of too much pride..
